Training and Development Manager - Signal Hill, CA
Position Overview:
Manage, develop and enhance, coordinate, schedule, supervise, and conduct business and technical training for new hires and current employees based both on the organization’s and individual’s needs.
Key
Responsibilities and Duties:
Duties may include but are not limited to:
- Identify and assess training needs of company employees thru solicitation of employee and manager input
- Evaluate training materials prepared by company employees
- Prepare and revise training materials as necessary in order to address company needs using a variety of instructional techniques
- Coordinate with managers to utilize in-house and external instructors to conduct training
- Track employee training progress using training tracker software
- Prepare and facilitate the execution of short and long term training plans
- Manage training program in accordance with company expectation and goals
- Conduct employee surveys of training and development effectiveness
- Evaluate company employee training effectiveness and perform ongoing improvements
- Working in a team to produce and execute training programs and initiatives
- Train instructors and supervisors in techniques and skills for training and dealing with employees
- Assess and mentor company instructors and supervisors in improving training skills
- Evaluate company training costs and develop training budgets to justify expenditures
- Administer employee testing, evaluations and record keeping.
Qualification/Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree from a four year college or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years experience in the area of employee training and development
- Background in refining, petrochemical or environmental sector is preferred
- Ability to understand and interpret technical equipment and procedures
- Ability to travel as required
- Strong verbal, listening, and written communication skills required
- Demonstrated leadership abilities
- Strong presentation and public speaking abilities
- Excellent inter-personal skills
- Ability to be proactive, self-motivated, and self-directed
- Depth of practical experience in both technical and non-technical training
