Location: Long Beach , California
Project Description
Provided on-the-dock wastewater treatment services utilizing oil/water separation and chemical neutralization to ocean-going vessels where the cleaning wash water is treated and recycled for reuse. Hundreds of thousands of gallons of wash water have been treated with transportable treatment units either on the dock immediately adjacent to or on the deck of the vessels. Spent wash water was pumped from the cargo holds to the treatment units, treated and then containerized for immediate re-use by the vessel cleaning contractor. This technique allowed the cleaning contractor to clean the vessel faster, use caustic soap for a better finished product, and resulted in only a small amount of water to dispose off-site. Cost savings to the customer approached 30% less than the amounts paid prior to using this on-site treatment and recycling methodology.
