Client: Synthetic Fuels Facility
Location: Van Nuys, California
Project Description
Provided emergency response on-site wastewater treatment services to support clean-up operations following an underground petroleum pipeline release of crude oil. Approximately 100,000 gallons of spent wash water was pumped from the flood control channel into the transportable treatment units located within the Woodley Golf Course . Special permits were obtained from the City of Los Angeles to allow GEM MTS to locate the treatment equipment on the golf course property and from the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County to discharge the treated water into a former manway connection within the golf course. The wash water was treated to reduce concentrations of emulsified oils & greases, total suspended solids, TPH-Gasoline and Total Toxic Organics. The project was a standout effort recognized by the POTW as a partnership between industry and a Regulatory agency.
